Welcome to Fine Lines, Form and Flowers, my online portfolio. Botanical Art combines scientific observation and artistic expression. As a member of the Board of the American Society of Botanical Art, which has a membership of approximately 1850 botanical artists from all over the world, I do my best to promote this genre of art.

In 2014, I earned the Certificate in Botanical Art from the Chicago Botanic Garden (CBG) and soon after joined the CBG faculty to teach pen & ink and colored pencil drawing for the Certificate Program.

One of my favorite pieces, the 12" x 12" pen and ink "Maidenhair Tree," Ginkgo biloba, recently toured with the 3rd Triennial New York Botanical Gardens exhibition, "Out of the Woods." The Royal Horticultural Society has deemed my work "suitable for exhibition"...I just have to complete a project per the guidelines within the next few years! So I am very busy working towards that goal.

Please click on the images below to see more of my work. Obligatory note: all images are copyrighted and may not be used without my permission.

Ginkgo biloba

The pen & ink Ginkgo biloba drawing which appeared on the cover of The Botanical Artist journal was selected for the 3rd New York Botanical Garden’s Triennial Exhibition, “Out of the Woods.” Beyond New York, the exhibition toured the USA, from 2017 to 2019, at multiple locations including the The Huntington in California.

Hymenocallis

This is a beautiful plant and I have done many pieces in various media based on it. I am pleased to say that the full size drawing of the Spider Lily, Hymenocallis, was selected for the 2021 exhibition “Wildly Exquisite: Florida’s Native Plants,” to be held at the Preservation Society of Palm Beach.

The following photos were selected because they are meaningful to me. For instance, the “back of the envelope” (literally) drawing of a garden was the first sketch I did when the urge to resume drawing welled up in me. No materials at hand, I used hotel stationery and a ballpoint pen. The Garden Club of America Floral Design images are included because they made me susceptible to botanical art when it finally came my way.
